Underwater footage from a dive off the coastline of KoTao opens on the spotted body of a whale shark. Documented by a smaller workforce from Aquatic Pictures on two excursions, the giant, slow-shifting creature is proven gliding gracefully by way of the Gulf of Thailand with what seems to be dozens of remora, or suckerfish, tagging along for the ride—these more compact swimmers are likely to thoroughly clean microorganisms and parasites from their host in exchange for food items and straightforward vacation.

Whale sharks are at the moment the major living fish species, and related to flamingos, they are filter-feeders, despite the fact that they make the most of a cross-flow technique that will involve water passing by the filter towards the back again of the throat instead than as a result of it. Their unique places are also one of a kind to every single specimen, indicating that like human fingerprints, no two styles are the exact.

This is the second time in new a long time that Aquatic Images has encountered the “gentle big,” and you can locate much more of its undersea footage on YouTube. (by means of The Young children Ought to See This)
