After submitting a draft sketch, a Challenge judge instructed Musick increase on one particular little portion of his draft that incorporated Lt. Zebulon Pike’s preliminary face with Indigenous individuals.
A several months later, in the summer months of 1942, Musick painted his function straight onto the wall. Not on a canvas or in a studio — he worked on a ladder with egg tempura and coloured pencils.
Musick’s elevated artwork is Manitou’s model of the Sistine Chapel. Wonderful artwork transcends museum partitions. Occasionally it is where you minimum count on it, like the post office environment, exactly where you go for the stamps, but stick around for the inspiration.
