Opened as the “Aspen Centre for the Visual Arts” in 1979, the museum was officially accredited as the Aspen Art Museum (AAM) in 1984. The AAM is an admission-cost-free, globally engaged modern day artwork museum with local community, schooling and member courses that present at any time- changing onsite and online exhibitions, workshops and situations. The knowledge starts when you 1st see the AAM’s downtown developing developed by 2014 Pritzker Prize for Architecture winner Shigeru Ban. In 2017, the facility was acknowledged between the American Institute of Architects (AIA) awards for “best present-day architecture.”

The AAM destinations education, collaboration and community at theheart of its programming, and, withthe input of artists throughout the ecologyof the artworld, hosts web page-certain commissions, exhibitions, and instructional and community plans that reply to Aspen, the Roaring Fork Valley, Colorado’s Western Slope and over and above.

This summer season the AAM is very delighted to host an exhibition of new paintings by American artist Cy Gavin in hisfirst U.S. solo museum presentation (through July 11, 2021). From July 27 by means of September 12, the museum provides the paintings of American artist Shara Hughes and, starting June 10, hosts the do the job of Welsh conceptual artist Cerith Wyn Evans. The artist’s “Aspen Drift” consists of new and the latest sculpture, installation, painting, and is effective on paper and is Evans’ first US museum presentation in above 17 decades (by October 10, 2021).
A key installation fee by poet/artist Valuable Okoyomon also opens June 10 and proceeds until finally September 18, 2022.
