Artist Fellowships Presented to Five Nationally-Known Local Artists and Program Names New Award in Memory of Local Filmmaker and Digital Artist  &#13

SANTA MONICA, Calif.  The Santa Monica Artist Fellowship application, now in its twelfth year, is the City’s remarkably regarded specific artist grant software that awards two artists with $16,000 Artist Fellowships, and three artists with $4,200 Project Fellowships.

For this year’s plan, a new category was fashioned below Undertaking Fellowships. The City’s Arts Fee designed the Kate Johnson Electronic Arts Fellowship in honor of the beloved nearby filmmaker and digital media artist who passed in 2020. This new award supports artists in the electronic and/or digital disciplines, like electronic film, video, internet- and gaming-based perform, and interactive fine artwork.

This year’s Artist Fellows include choreographer Jacob Jonas and songwriter and visual artist Phranc. Venture Fellows are filmmaker Yuletide Caise, visual artist Debra Disman and artist Jody Zellen receiving the inaugural Kate Johnson Digital Arts Fellowship.

One particular of the major, general public-sector, individual artist systems in the U.S., the City of Santa Monica’s Artist Fellowship plan was released in 2009 as element of the City’s Artistic Capital Cultural Strategy, which recognized individual artist help as a critical component of the community arts ecosystem. The program provides a platform for the two emerging and established artists and reinforces residents’ long-standing regard for creativity and innovation.

“It’s difficult to express how significantly this usually means to me as an artist, to be recognized by my dwelling town of Santa Monica for past and existing function on James Baldwin,” claims Challenge Fellow and filmmaker Yule Caise. “I plan to invite a group of local youth to participate in my progress process to give back to the Santa Monica neighborhood that has been so supportive of me therefore far.”
