Artists can sign up now for the big fall Art Fair 14C

Art Fair 14C may not be until November, but now is the time for artists to get a leg up and have their work accepted into the event early.

As of now, applications are available for exhibition booths and for The Showcase. The applications are available at https://artfair14c.com/apply. The deadline to apply is July 5.

The 4th Edition of Art Fair 14C will have more than 46,000 square feet of exhibition space at the Jersey City Armory from November 11 to 13.

The fair gets its name from Exit 14C on the NJ Turnpike. Each year, the purpose of Art Fair 14C is to increase opportunities for artists, expand public access to fine art, strengthen careers in the visual arts, and activate under-recognized arts areas.

Although exhibition booths are open to all, The Showcase, which was formerly known as the Juried Show, is for individual artists who live or have a studio in New Jersey. The Showcase is known to have a preference for art that is for sale, but it’s also not a requirement.

As before, artists will be chosen by a panel of judges. The 2022 judges are Katie Henry of Art in Offices, Susan Nelly of The Villa America Fine Art, and Ulysses Williams of ArtCrawl Harlem.

Artists selected for The Showcase will be given free exhibition space at Art Fair 14C and will be eligible for other exhibition opportunities. An artist from the 2022 Showcase will also be awarded the honor of a free exhibition booth at the 5th Edition of Art Fair 14C in 2023.

The fair’s opening day also happens to be Veterans Day, and with the location of the event taking place at the Jersey City Armory, Art Fair 14C has announced a special exhibition of artwork by veterans and active-duty members of the military.

The exhibit will be curated by Ivy Brown of the Ivy Brown Gallery in New York City, and the call for art is now open, with a deadline of Sept 5. The Ivy Brown Gallery was founded in 2001 in New York City, where it exhibits contemporary art of all mediums and supports both emerging and established artists. There is also a focus on art with 3D elements.

Art Fair 14C was founded by Robinson Holloway in 2018 while chair of the Jersey City Arts Council Board of Directors. She is also the founder of the non-profit Village West Gallery in Jersey City.

The Armory is located in the McGinley Square neighborhood of Jersey City at 678 Montgomery St. More information about Art Fair 14C and getting involved can be found online at https://artfair14c.com.
