Eleven rural Oklahoma school districts, including Asher Community Schools in Pottawatomie County, have been chosen to receive a new innovative fine arts program for the 2021-22 school yr.

Oklahoma Artwork Tech is a $5.8 million grant over 5 years to develop access to visual arts, dance, drama or music courses to schools that would otherwise have limited or no arts plans.

“Every kid deserves entry to a very well-rounded education and learning, which consists of exploration of the arts. Artwork Tech is addressing this want in rural universities, which experience greater challenges in offering specialized academic programs,” mentioned State Superintendent of Community Instruction Pleasure Hofmeister. “The infusion of fine arts into the classroom promotes engagement that enriches overall scholar understanding and accomplishment, and is an evidence-centered strategy that supports the results of the total little one.”
