ASHLAND — The award winners have been introduced for the Ashland University 2021 Juried Pupil Artwork and Style and design Exhibition, which operates by way of March 30 in the University’s Coburn Gallery.
This exhibition features $950 in awards to student artists, which includes Greatest in Demonstrate, Bernini Award, Dean’s Award, People’s Decision Award and the AU Permanent Artwork Assortment Award.
The outside the house juror for the exhibition was Noah Schenk, presently the glass chair and instructor at Mansfield Art Center. Schenk obtained his BFA with a focus in Glass from Kent Condition University. Even though earning his MFA from Ball State University, he commenced exploring much more conceptual artwork, increasing his visual vocabulary from mostly object producing to building installations questioning, observing and processing our current modern society.
Schenk approved 76 of the 121 entries submitted.
“2020 will stay in our collective head for generations. It is the year that we figured out as a world we can stop and change our life in unison,” Schenk explained in his juror’s statement. “We employed the net to digitally shrink our world. We have expressed ourselves in another way in this time.
“In deciding on the artwork for this present I felt your pain, your vulnerability, your humor. I see loads of talent, artists accessing their creativity, discovering their voices.
“Art lets us to approach emotions, connect concepts and decompress our feelings … You are at a exceptional position in heritage as you end your educations. We have witnessed the environment as we know alter. Artists, creators and cost-free thinkers have the likelihood to reshape our world wide culture. How will you shape our potential?”
