“I think my artwork is at its ideal when it is unconscious-driven,” says Mark Jenkins. Veering from the witty and absurd to the disorienting and strange, Jenkins’ system of function confronts perceptions of actuality by way of the surreal: a life-sized figure climbs a hearth escape upside down, limp legs hold from a dumpster, and toast springs up from a sewer grate.
No matter whether put in in alleys and city places or within just the stark, white space of a gallery, Jenkins’ sculptures are theatrical and logic-defying, and every single piece mimics “life to the stage exactly where it turns into genuine, to me,” he shares. “Creating an alternate reality has been the solution for my psychological health and fitness. I discover fact a bit depressing with loss of life and all, politics, war, celebs, and so forth., and that all the stars are so far away we can never ever genuinely get to know the universe.”
Jenkins is presently working in Los Angeles and before long headed to Le Havre, France, for his following undertaking. You can stick to his apply and check out an expansive archive of his sculptures on his site and Instagram.
