College of Art and Design sponsoring Rochester Independent Comics Expo this weekend

The expo, structured by Western New York Comic Arts and sponsored by RIT’s Higher education of Art and Structure, is scheduled for 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, April 2, in Sibley Sq., 250 E. Principal St., Rochester, N.Y. A kickoff party, the “Rochester Comics Artist Showcase and Dialogue,” will take location from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, April 1, at The Robust, Just one Manhattan Sq. downtown.

Expo and kickoff event attendees will be ready to satisfy exhibiting comedian artists, obtain some of their authentic artwork, and discover Rochester’s comics tradition. The occasions are free of charge and open up to the community. 

This year’s expo is co-organized by Frances Andreu, electronic initiatives librarian at RIT artist and educator Tom Lake and Daniel Worden, comics historian and an associate professor in RIT’s School of Art, and supported by volunteers from a amount of cultural and educational establishments all around Rochester. 

The April 1 kickoff occasion at The Robust will characteristic a panel of renowned comedian artists presenting their do the job and partaking in a dialogue about today’s comics scene in Rochester. Guests will include RIT school and alumni, which includes cartoonist, musician, educator, and creator David Chisholm, an adjunct professor in RIT’s University of Art and Layout, whose new operate, Enter the Blue, was lately reviewed by The New York Instances.
