Colorado Springs Fine Arts Heart announces new director of visible arts and museum
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — Michael Christiano will be the new director of visible arts and museum at Colorado Springs Great Arts Center at Colorado College effective Monday, Sept. 27.
Christiano will lead the FAC Museum, oversee exhibitions, neighborhood and campus assignments. His appointment will come immediately after a nation-extensive research, evaluation and recommendation by the look for committee, workers and group.
“Michael Christiano is a dynamic, well-rounded leader whose professional goals align with our main values. Across a range of collecting and contemporary art museums affiliated with academic institutions, Michael has worn multiple hats and contributed to significant impact and positive growth,” said Idris Goodwin, FAC govt director.
Christiano most recently served as deputy director and curator of public practice at the Good Museum of Artwork at the College of Chicago. He was assisted in the community and museum’s relationship with just one yet another when also creating institutional specifications and programming to handle cultural, social, and political subjects. One of his the latest projects included developing community programming and supporting artist commissions for a city-huge exhibition of work by MacArthur Fellows, coordinating a collaborative exhibit of Cuban and Latinx artists with the Countrywide Museum of Mexican Art, and coordinating an exhibit and publication examining the work of the Black Arts Movement on Chicago’s south facet for the duration of the 1960s and 70s.
Christiano acquired his master’s diploma in museum education and learning from the College of the Arts in Philadelphia before working on the Frist Artwork Museum training group, the Photographic Useful resource Centre at Boston University and as curator of schooling at Southeastern Centre for Up to date Art.
