Cranston artwork pupils honored with scholarships

Cranston General public Schools, in conjunction with the Visual Arts Office, is proud to announce that three higher school artists have been chosen as winners of the 2021 Wickford Artwork Affiliation/Rhode Island Art Education and learning Association Scholarship Plan.

Five winners from throughout the state had been decided on primarily based on their portfolios of operate submitted in different classes. Judging of the do the job took place previous week and the winners had been declared on Saturday morning.

“Based on the portfolios submitted to the 2021 Scholarship Method, it was determined that the five $500 Scholarship Awards be produced in the classes of Drawing, Portray, 3-D/Combined Media, Images, and Electronic Artwork,” Catherine Gagnon, the Wickford Art Association’s gallery director, mentioned in a statement.

Of the 5 winners, three of the artists are Cranston Public Faculties significant faculty seniors.

Elizabeth Cowart, from Cranston Substantial School West has gained in the Drawing group, whilst Marissa North from Cranston Significant University East has received in the Portray class and Ella Rose from Cranston West has received in the 3-D/Combined Media class.

The students’ had been acknowledged on Tuesday all through a digital Scholarship Awards Ceremony, and all of the artwork will be on exhibit at the Wickford Art Association’s gallery by Saturday, April 3.
