As promised, the new single from John Mayer’s future eighth studio album, Sob Rock, is ’80s enough to make Bryan Adams consider that to start with actual six-string back again to the five-and-dime. Showcasing Maren Morris, “Last Practice Home” comes with an equally ’80s music online video, starring a bemused lady photographer, a pink electric guitar, and, of class, leather jackets galore.
If “Last Practice Home” appears an awful whole lot like Toto’s “Rosanna” (or Toto’s “Stop Loving You” or Toto’s “I’ll Be More than You”), properly, there’s a quite good cause for that. In addition to Morris, Mayer is joined on the keep track of by Toto percussionist Lenny Castro, and keyboardist Greg Phillinganes, who played for Stevie Speculate, Eric Clapton, and Michael Jackson, just before afterwards touring with (you guessed it) Toto from 2003 to 2008.
On Thursday night, Mayer also produced the complete track list for Sob Rock, which is set to drop on July 16, and from the appears to be like of it, it’s surely likely to make the summer months seem to final permanently, ideally in a good way:
Previous Prepare Property
Shouldn’t Make any difference but It Does
New Light
Why You No Adore Me
Wild Blue
Shot in the Dark
I Guess I Just Truly feel Like
Til the Suitable One Will come
Carry Me Absent
All I Want Is to Be With You
