Previous MCLA president Dr. Mary K. Grant this 7 days has been unanimously advisable by the Board of Trustees at Massachusetts College or university of Art and Design and style to provide as their future president.
Grant, who labored as MCLA’s president from 2002 to 2014, is also now Bridgewater State University’s first Senior Administrative Fellow with the Martin Richard Institute for Social Justice at the higher education.
President James Birge declared the recommendation to MCLA faculty and team in a Friday, April 23 electronic mail.
“The [state] Board of Bigger Instruction will act on approving their recommendation in the coming months,” he wrote.
Prior to the recommendation of the Massachusetts University of Art and Structure Board of Trustees and her position at the Martin Richard Institute for Social Justice, Grant was the president of the Edward M. Kennedy Institute for the United States Senate from 2018 to 2019.
Grant was also appointed as the chancellor of College of North Carolina at Asheville in 2014 and served in that position right until 2017, according to iBerkshires.com.
“I look forward to welcoming Mary aboard as our latest Point out University Council of Presidents colleague and performing with her to fortify the mission of general public increased instruction in the Commonwealth,” Birge concluded.
Both equally Massachusetts College or university of Art and Design and style and the Edward M. Kennedy Institute for the United States Senate are located in Boston.
