The scent of burgers and barbecue smoke was in the air Friday evening at the Westmoreland County Fairgrounds for the duration of the Foodstuff & Music Festival, the 1st time good organizers have promoted their individual food-truck event.
“It’s fantastic to be out serving food items for the general public,” explained Jason Frye of Pleasant Lane Farms in Unity, who, alongside with Logan Relatives Farms and Jesse’s Rooster, took above a cinder-block kitchen making on the fairgrounds as the Westmoreland Farms Meals Team.
In addition to the food stuff vehicles, the food stuff group’s customers are bringing nearby products instantly to shoppers from the region’s farms, a form of exam run for even larger things afterwards this summer.
“It’s just a way to bring collectively the farm-to-desk movement in the area,” said Frye, the seventh era of his household to be associated in farming. “During the week of the Westmoreland Truthful, we’ll be in entire operation accomplishing fried cheese curds and serving a great deal of various dishes. We’ll also have a modest farmer’s industry the week of the truthful.”
For this weekend, though, it is funnel and chimney cakes, burgers, pierogies, barbecue and extra, with stay songs from community bands all weekend lengthy.
The Food stuff & Audio Competition is scheduled for 2 to 10 p.m. Saturday and 2 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the sophisticated off Mt. Pleasurable Highway in Mt. Pleasant Township. House owners of antique and vintage autos will show their retro rides equally days.
Admission to the pageant is $5, or free for young ones 12 and more youthful. No tickets will be pre-offered, and payment at the gate is hard cash only.
