In March 2020, as the coronavirus lockdown set in, the Local weather Impacts Team started out an initiative to hook up our local climate investigation with artistic expression. Operating with visual artist Kate Doyle, we made this collaborative task to build artwork with science-based mostly themes and search for tranquility all through the unprecedented occasions of COVID-19.

The movie is composed of electronic visualizations from the 3 investigation areas of the Weather Impacts Group. The operate tasks the results of our modifying local weather on agriculture, towns, and ecosystems. Doyle uses a variety of media, like paint pours on canvas and videography, to change the Climate Impacts Group’s scientific exploration into artwork. The science contains observations, remote sensing imagery, and simulation results.

We hope that our vibrant visualizations will inspire increased knowing, innovation, and action. Blending science and art, we get the job done to awaken a sense of broader link to, and regard for, the Earth.

For now, we share the Science & Art in the Time of Coronavirus movie on line. When our COVID-19 self-isolation period is in excess of, we program to showcase the science and artwork that went into it in a are living exhibition with a (properly distanced) viewers.
