Opening on July 23rd, 2022 at Hashimoto Modern day in New York Town is artist Rachel Strum’s solo exhibition, “Interference.”

“Interference” showcases abstract paintings and sculptures that transcend the constraints of time and area. With the interplay of materiality through oscillating depths of color and substrates, natural and geometric varieties commingle inside flat and luminous layered and glittering surfaces in
this new body of function. The sorts mesh and collide simultaneously utilizing a substantial-important coloration palette
inside and outdoors the confines of the picture plane. This hanging juxtaposition results in rigidity and
harmony among the normal and synthetic, the acquainted and the unidentified.

Further than dynamic compositions and punchy colour mixtures, there is also a softness from
stretches of velvety-matte surfaces. The works come to feel boundless how deep and far back again in area do
they extend? Are these cropped snippets from larger sized expanses? And though educated by additional
classic formalist and tough-edge abstraction, the get the job done extends further than the two-dimensional
floor and expands further than it.

Brightly coloured sculptures are displayed together with the paintings. Utilizing sculpture as a software to
check out area and time, pigmented resin poured in layers types an item that emanates a glow
from mild passing through and reflecting. The layering requires the viewer to move all over the
function to seize the entirety of what is readily available to perceive.
