Absolutely free admission.

In 2021 the frequent barrage of terms and illustrations or photos as a result of social media, billboards, commercials, and so forth., forces us to dilemma what we see, listen to, and study. Phrases are carelessly ‘vomited’ at us without regard for their opportunity result or truthfulness, normally artlessly and with no talent.
In the ideal of instances, modern art reflects life’s urgent societal difficulties whilst visual artists utilize phrases/textual content with wordplay, polemics, meta-messaging, subverted advertising and marketing (Warhol, Banksy), appropriation, and by combining their visuals with poetry, audio and/or video clip. The artist, thus, is in a placement to reinterpret phrases and text, to craft a message, to connect strategies, ideals, social values and, hopefully, to encourage or provoke.

With ‘Words Matter’, The Artwork Heart Highland Park sought art that exists in the intersection among visual artwork and language. The highlighted artist/ visitor juror, Makeba Kadem-DuBose uses classic newsprint as a variety of activism by shedding light on the absence of “information” about girls, specially these who had gone lacking. She states, “tales of women of all ages good or in any other case that ended up missing from the “official” media archives… America Me: Missing 1930s through 2021 is meant as an homage, an ongoing series in honor of, and to deliver light-weight to the quite a few girls who’ve absent lacking, and those who’ve survived attempts to vanish us.“

From the more than 70 artists who submitted, 43 artists have been picked to represent a wide interpretation of the topic. We hope you sign up for us as we set the phase to build a ‘conversation about Words’.
“What do you go through, my lord?”
“Words, terms, terms.”
