Ithaca – Stan Bowman (1934-2021), An Artist on the Foremost Resourceful Edge

Famed for his vibrant colored shirts and suspenders, Stan was an artist, educator, spouse, father, grandfather and a legitimate creative spirit. He was often exploring new means of generating art. From his early times of functioning in photography, he experimented with collages, in 2 and 3 dimensions. He was not frightened to put rotting fruit or resources on a scanner, and reveled in producing fascinating patterns out of seemingly mundane written content. He was an early pioneer in electronic artwork who introduced his playful perception of collage to photos of people’s faces or areas. Stan immersed his training and imaginative exercise in the electronic revolution, dubbing his explorative body of function Digi-Portray, Application-stracts, Floating Shapes, Geo Abstracts, and Sculpted Paintings.

Stan was born on April 27th 1934 in Oakland, California, youthful son of Joseph Walter and Hazel (née Almquist) Bowman. From an early age he loved to perform, owning made his individual toy troopers along with his older brother Bill, pouring direct into molds – just before the era of plastic. He was gifted a camera and developing package in 1951, spurring his fascination in what would become a lifelong enthusiasm for photography.

Stan entered the architecture software at College of California Berkeley in 1957, and even though getting a class in lighting had the option to discover his curiosity in images through a course task. He graduated in 1964 with a Bachelor of Architecture diploma.

As a putting tall young man who loved to enjoy guitar, he caught the eye of Mary Ann McDermid though in the Berkeley space. They were being married on June 13th 1959 and began a family, obtaining two sons, Eric and Greg. He took up a occupation operating in architecture, but commenced to have powerful needs to work in photography, stating that he required to make images, not buildings. In 1970 he applied to the Master’s plan in Pictures at College of New Mexico in Albuquerque and began his route as an artist.
