Sorina Susnea stood in the gallery of Glynn Visible Artwork on St. Simons Island, surrounded by the items of her latest exhibition. One particular wall was loaded with her paintings, shades of blue, white, grey and black.

The swirls of shapes, wormhole-like in structure, gave the complete room a sense of motion. Interspersed with the fluidity of her paintings are metallic sculptures, a grounding juxtaposition to the depth of the paintings.

This presentation, titled Touching the Blue Void, was created by Susnea to provoke thought and emotion from gallery-goers.

“It was formulated about the past 12 months, and it has 3 distinct proportions: portray, ceramic sculpture and light packing containers with translucent epoxy resins factors,” she said.

The paintings were being born in movement. Generally, Susnea will use her individual entire body — her fingers or forearms — to build the basis for the tunnel-like motion.

Then, she will go in to insert depth and refine the piece.

But even with these additions, every get the job done retains a perception of secret.

“There is that area among ambiguity and the unfamiliar where by new awareness lurks just out of sight,” she reported.

“A area amongst the webbed dim subject scaffolding of the universe and the dance of quarks to the rhythm of the sturdy nuclear power. This is the design and style of my artwork and the infinite resource of my fascination.”

The poetic way she views artwork and its put in the entire world will come naturally. In reality, her complete inventive journey unfolded in an natural and organic way. It commenced when she was a boy or girl, escalating up in a small city in northeastern Romania.

At the age of 10, she embarked on the route to getting to be the creator she is right now. In point, Susnea can recall the specific second it transpired.

“My mother regarded as any and all extracurricular activities a squander of time. Having said that, apparently the local community center’s poetry club was educational enough, so she authorized me to attend. The poetry classroom was up coming door to the painting class,” she mentioned.

“These have been not demanding lessons, but they were made available no cost by the government. Each individual achieved weekly. Now, my mom mistakenly believed — rather possibly by one thing I had said, that poetry satisfied 2 times weekly. And so, with shades secretly ‘borrowed’ from our leftover dwelling paint in the drop, I attended my initial portray class.”

From that second on, Susnea poured her heart and soul into her do the job. She began her scientific studies in art at George Enescu College in Iasi, Romania, earning a bachelor’s and master’s degree in painting. Just after relocating to the United States, she obtained her learn of good art diploma from the University of South Florida.

After in her new region, she continued to research artwork and display her get the job done. Susena has held solo exhibition, as properly as juried demonstrates throughout Florida and New York. She’s also won dozens of awards and served as the artist in home in Quebec, Canada, and Bali, Indonesia.

While she’s lived about the environment, the Golden Isles grew to become her home a several decades back again. She now feels fully in her component.

“We’ve settled into a extra finish feeling of peace right here than everywhere else. We couldn’t have carried out far better,” she mentioned.

And as she embraces her new property, Susnea relishes sharing her work with the group. Her present demonstrate will be on exhibit even though April 9. She’ll then change her attention to remodeling her at-dwelling studio to work on generating blended media essays, entwining her autobiographical writing with artwork. By way of that, Susnea will continue on to request to share her believed-provoking parts.

“All my tasks walk a line negotiating what is presently known, what can be identified and what will continue being a secret. The supposed journey is provocative, demanding and gratifying. I want the viewer to walk that line with me,” she explained.

“Once an artwork is positioned into the world, my manage above what it can deliver within just a viewer is lost. The viewers are inspired to search for inspiration in my artwork, to peer as deeply into by themselves as my will work peer again, to uncover their personal boundary between what they believe they know and the legitimate mysteries that gasoline generation.”
